Setup Gmail as IMAP in MS Outlook

Below are the IMAP settings for Gmail. Use these when setting up MS Outlook for a gmail user.

  1. Launch MS Outlook and go through Email setup wizard
    1. Choose Internet E-mail
    2. Check box to “Manually configure email server settings” and click “Next”
    3. Enter the following information on the next screen
      1. Your Name = Your Name as you want it to appear on outgoing emails
      2. E-mail Address = Your full email address
      3. Account Type = IMAP
      4. Incoming mail server = imap.gmail.com
      5. Outgoing mail server = smtp.gmail.com
      6. User Name = Your full email address
      7. Password = Your email password
    4. Click the “More Settings” button
    5. Click the “Outgoing Server” tab
      1. Check the option “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
      2. Keep “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” selected
    6. Click the “Advanced Tab”
      1. Incoming Encryption = SSL
      2. Incoming Port = 993
      3. Outgoing Encryption = TLS
      4. Outgoing Port = 587
    7. Click “OK”
  2. Click Next to test settings and finish setting up profile
